 Lately I've been reeeeeeally relaxed when it comes to wearing jeans and sneakers to work. I try not to wear sneakers when I'm teaching class (only when doing extra-curriculars or have meetings). Jeans are considered OK to teach in, I've discovered, though I try not to abuse this mercifulness!

Remembrance Day

Today is Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day.

There are no classes today, and most offices and organizations are closed. To observe this holiday I will be accompanying my friends to the Genocide Memorial to lay flowers and participate in prayer.

Pilgrim Style

Taking a personal day today, so I thought I'd post my outfit from the pilgrimage I went on on Sunday to the monasteries of Noravank and Khor Virap.

It was an incredible day that I will never forget. Even though I'm not religious, it was certainly a spiritual experience (and as you know, I'm all about experiencing these things)!

If you think I've been repeating outfits lately, you're not exactly wrong. While I have yet to repeat an outfit on Cunning Closet, I do regularly recycle individual items of clothing!

Remember, I came to teach in this country with two suitcases. Spread out over four seasons, that's only half a suitcase per season!

My time here is an experiment and test of my creativity and willpower to resist the urge to adopt the tell-tale American casual style.

HA! I want this shirt. I think this will be the only item of clothing I buy in Armenia (besides a ball gown I bought in November, which will not be featured on this blog). It's just so perfect for a fashion blog!

Jungle Fever

Roar!

Since comfort and convenience led me to a beige shirt and wild, au naturale hair today, I thought, why not just complete the Safari look?

I've been dying to wear this green animal print scarf that our lovely Dean gave me for my birthday last month. It makes quite a statement all on its own so it definitely needs a neutral outfit to go with.

Paired it with simple gold accessories and a black cardi for walking to work (it cooled down a little).

Thought about wearing my nude pumps today but I just couldn't deal with even a 3 1/2-inch heel today. Sticking with the same wedges I wore yesterday.

Bringing in a fashion mag that my BFF sent me in a care package and hoping for some great insights from the girls in our group, maybe even some that I can apply to my life here! Nothing like a good outfit to ease the awkwardness of being foreign ;)

Punky Sweet

I had to add a little Gothy funk because the pink/hearts combination was just too.... sweet looking. I don't want to be misleading- I prefer the outside to match the inside when possible :)

I managed to make it through the day in these wedges, including walking to work! I changed into sneakers for the walk home, though. Didn't want to push my luck.

I don't know if you can tell, but I've gone Armenian and am wearing panty hose today! I can see the appeal in that you don't have to be super diligent about shaving and moisturizing and that it reduces blister formation. Forget proper- hose are considered necessary here, even under jeans.
